... is a regional movement (Styria, Carinthia and South Burgenland) which aims for societies of justice, peace and human solidarity. It struggles against the different forms of violence, exploitation, injustice and exclusion; against networks of ideological, religious, sexist, political, cultural and economic oppression and imbalance of natural surroundings. It supports all women and men, who want to take their destiny into their own hands to organise collectively a responsible and liberating society.
One aim of Perpetuum Mobile regional is it to bring the idea of peace through Workcamps and intercultural exchanges in the counties Styria, Carinthia and Burgenland. In the moment we are working with a partner in Vienna called Grenzenlos- Interkultureller Austausch. Together we are Perpetuum Mobile international - PMI. In Upper-Austria and Tyrol we want to start workcamp activities with the organizations Amigi and Auszeit.
Perpetuum Mobile regional - PMr was founded in 2003, for exchanges and work camp organisations in Styria, Carinthia and South Burgenland. PMr as a section of a local youth association which is active since the beginning of our century. In the last years we organized 6 Workcamps with over 70 international volunteers.
In the Summer season of 2004 we are going to realize 2 work camps and Arte diem!

Arte Diem or another way to understand diversity" is the result
of similar activities that has taken place in Spain in summer
2003. In this project, participants will be exchanging during
three weeks about things like neo-liberalism, anti-racism and
xenophobia, using arts as communication tools and cooperating
with a refugee centre.
Austria has turned nowadays into the expending East frontier of the European Union. But more then ever, right wing parties are getting stronger, racism and fears feelings among the population are increasing. There is an urgent need and duty to work on those issues with the young generation, as to keep up a feeling of citizenship and ensure a change of mentalities through youth participation. Indeed, we believe that such youth exchange and working together through arts will give young people the possibility to discover themselves from a different perspective, but also get to know their neighbors in different ways, thus increasing respect, tolerance, curiosity and envy to deepen the "other". This is the intercultural earning process…
The community of Gnas has investigated a lot in the sports sector, Sport school and sport places now a new youth hostel is soon completed. Next to the main focus on "youth and sports" the cultural part should not be forgotten. Every two years the "Stradener Straßenspektakel" takes place in Straden. Over 8000 visitors are coming and listen to music from Central and Eastern Europe. Part of this youth exchange will be included in this festival. Young people will have the opportunity to present their work, dances, music or any other work of art that will result from the exchange and the work with the group of refugees based in Caritas Franziskushaus. Arte Diem should not only bring international youth together, it also should bring the youth from Gnas and Straden to an common activity!
